Preschool haircut

We went to see Miss Amanda Ginder this week for
a "pre-school haircut".
Jack was getting a little shaggy and we wanted to make sure
he looked fresh as a daisy for his first day of school.

Here we go Eagles Here we go

It's finally here!
The first game of the season at Pana.
One of my favorite days of the year.
Good luck Eagles.
Give 'em hell Coach Fulton and Coach Short.

OBAMA!!!

"The times are too serious, the stakes are too high for this same partisan playbook. So let us agree that patriotism has no party. I love this country, and so do you, and so does John McCain. The men and women who serve in our battlefields may be Democrats and Republicans and Independents, but they have fought together and bled together and some died together under the same proud flag. They have not served a Red America or a Blue America – they have served the United States of America.

So I've got news for you, John McCain. We all put our country first."

Presumptive no more

It's official. Barack Obama is the official Democrat nominee for the office of the President of the United States.
It can now be written in the history books.
Tonight he will give his long awaited acceptance speech before a crowd of 75,000 plus that will include none other than a lady named OPRAH.
Perhaps it will seem like a rock concert. Maybe there will be loads of celebrities there. I really don't get why Republicans have such a problem with that? I can only assume jealousy. We got Clooney, OPRAH, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, just to name a very few. They have Lt. Dan and Jon Voight.
Anyhoo, whatever your party affiliation I encourage you to watch Obama's speech tonight at 9:00 pm CT.

LEG CRAMPS--uggh!

The night time leg cramps are killing me. As if they were not bad enough, my legs are so sore for the next few days after them that I am walking with a limp.
I am willing to try anything! Cliff suggested I get some Ben-Gay, and I now smell like the training room of a pro football team. Jack is complaining because the entire house smells funny. I am trying to eat bananas when the IGA will participate with any at all to purchase, or waiting while the green ones that they do have are edible. I read somewhere online an old wives tale of sleeping with a bar of soap with you in bed, tonight I will try that.
If anyone has ANY suggestions, I would love to hear them. If this does not let up and you see me walking with a cane, you can thank these awful leg cramps!

A Star is born?

This is a big week for a political junkie like myself. The Democrat Convention to me is like the Final 4 for NCAA fans. I have watched as much coverage of the convention as I possible can.
So far....eh.
Fine speeches.
Michelle Obama looked beautiful and their kids are adorable.
Ted Kennedy made me cry.
The people on CNN and FOX are putting all the focus on the "Obama/Clinton" rivalry.
I still had not got what I wanted---An inspiring, raise the roof, Bush/McCain bashing speech until tonight. While I was waiting for Hillary (Miss Clinton if your nasty) to give her speech I finally got what I wanted.
It came in the form of the Gov. of Montana,
Brian Schweitzer.
Wearing his string tie and waving his arms about he got the crowd on their feet and excited.
He spoke of Obama's aggressive energy plan with such well, energy.
The crowd loved it, Bill Clinton LOVED it (he looks old, still hot, but old), and I thought it was fantastic. I am gonna watch this guy, you never know political superstars are made at the convention.
---Hillary's on. More convention rambling to come......

My new makeup love

I just got this new Arbonne Mineral Powder foundation last week and I LOVE IT!!!
If you are at all like me you have 5-10 different bottles of foundation laying around in your bathroom, none of it just right.
I have seen plenty of infomercials for this type of makeup and have really wanted to give it a try.
Courtney Kocher (formerly of Newton, now of Pana) sells Arbonne and sent me an e-mail about a special they were having, so I decided to give it a try.
It is quick and easy to put on and such light complete coverage! It does take a while to get used to something so simple and light.
I am already purusing the catalog to figure out what my next order will be.
For more info, e-mail Courtney at clkocher@yahoo.com

Free Sample!!

Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page for a free sample of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!
You also get a sample of cascade dish washing detergent.
I love a free sample. Especially one that comes in the mail!!

25 Weeks

25 weeks pregnant! Only 15 to go.
At this point Baby Chuck Chuck weighs about 1.5 lbs and is 9 inches long.

Getting on schedule

Jack starts school a week from tomorrow. He seems to be pretty excited about it. I think I am much more nervous than he is.

This week is preparation mode. We have the backpack. Tomorrow he goes to get his "school haircut". Last night we started working on getting Jack on a more regular sleep schedule--a regular bedtime, wake time, and nap time during the day.

I still have not chosen the perfect first day of school outfit for him to wear. I am thinking you can't go wrong with a Newton Eagles t-shirt although I am open to suggestions.

Biden is the chosen one

Finally Obama made his choice. Joe Biden, the Democrat Senator from Delaware.
What do you think?
Biden is no OPRAH, but why in the world would she want that job?
Out of the three that had been made mention for the position, I feel like Biden was the right choice. He has a very sad personal history that you can read about here.

Ever wonder what you would have liked like back when???
Check out this site and you can see what your yearbook pic would have looked like
in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, & 90's
Frankly, I don't think that the hair in the 1988 pic is that far off from the do I really sported.

Iced teaAholic

Tonight Jack was asking me some questions about Baby Chuck Chuck and what he was doing in my belly.
I explained to him that Chuck Chuck (Oh God, I hope that name does not stick) was kind of floating around in my belly, just sort of swimming.
Jack said "swimming, in what? TEA??"

AWESOMELY BAD

You know what I am talking about. Movies so bad they are good.
The movie that you might be embarrassed to admit that you love,
the one you have to stop and watch
when you are flipping channels and you catch it on TBS.
For me, it has to be ROADHOUSE.
Dalton lives like a loner,
fights like a professional,
and loves like there is no tomorrow
Patrick Swayze as the peace loving bouncer, the beautiful Sam Elliot,
and the Jeff Healey (may he RIP) band singing Angel Eyes.
What is your guilty pleasure, awesomely bad movie? Is it Showgirls? Joe Dirt?
Please share and tell us what you love about it.

Olympic wardrobe malfunction

Last night I watched beach volleyball.
Misty May(good stripper name)-Treanor and Kerri Walsh
won the gold for the second time.
As I watched them play in their white nike bikinis in the rain, I wondered if perhaps their game was not sponsored by Playboy?

Whatever happened to a pair of shorts and a t-shirt????

Better than Rancherito????

Let me preface this story with this: In case you are new to my blog, you may not know that I love EL Rancherito. I could eat there everyday. My sister Michelle may love it even more than me.

Saturday evening after we went to see Jill and her new baby we needed food. In a town with an El Rancherito, there is really not any other dining choice. We always head there. Michelle suggested we try another El Rancherito type place in Charleston. Not owned by the EL Rancho people, but it was supposed to be good. Michelle's friend and former co-worker MARGARITA had highly recommended it and with an authentic Mexican name like that, you can't go wrong!

Let me introduce....
LOS POTRILLOS
Do you get cheese dip at EL Rancherito?
I don't love it. I don't hate it.
Michelle and Gabe always get it and Jack is VERY fond of it.
Well, at LP they have a another form of cheese dip.
They add spinach to it!
HOLA spinach cheese dip.
I think I love you.
I only took a pic of my food.
I got a chicken burrito. I am not sure if it was as big as my head, I have a
larger head than the normal sized person.
It sure was good.
After all that spinach cheese dip I barely put a dent in it.
Made for great leftovers the next day!

Don't worry, I am not breaking up with Rancherito.
It will always be my first love.

My Olympic rant

Have you been watching the Olympics? Unlike the majority of the population of the USA, I really have not gotten sucked into the Olympics. Cliff has made me watch some of Michael Phelp's races and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Today Show in China each morning.

Here is what I am thinking about the great Michael Phelps who beat the longtime medal record held by Mark Spitz. Look at the pictures of Spitz. Look at that stache. Can you imagine the tenths of seconds that would have been shaved off of Spitzs time if he would have removed the moustache. Not Spitz, he was doing it for the USA, but also for the ladies. Burt Reynolds style. So that my friends is why even though Michael Phelps may swim faster and have more medals, Mark Spitz will always be in my book an American hero.

On to women's gymnastics.
Last night it did suck me in. I watched Nastia (and really, the entire time I was watching I was thinking "what is up with her name" she had to have been called Nastyia in school) get the Gold medal stolen away from her by that damn little Chinese girl.
Those Chinese girls were 16??? My ass! If that is true, I weigh 120lbs.
What are they doing to those girls in China to make them stop growing.
Have they somehow found a way to use feet binding for the entire body?
You could tell Nastia was pissed. I don't blame her. A tie??
God Bless America, Phelps, Nasty Nastia, and Mark Spitz and his glorious moustache.
