LOBSTER

This morning Jack comes out to tell me and Cliff (who is home from work today after having 4 teeth pulled yesterday) that he wants/needs a lobster. I asked, to eat or for a pet? Jack said for a pet. I may indulge many of Jack's wants, but the lobster is not going to happen. We may go eat at Red Lobster sometime soon though, maybe that will satisfy him. All I know is ever since he mentioned wanting a lobster, I have been thinking about those delicious biscuits.

Project Runway

Do you watch Project Runway? It is my favorite reality show. Since it is on Bravo, they replay each episode numerous times so, it is pretty easy to stay caught up. Last night my favorite contestant, CHRIS MARCH, was eliminated. I just love Chris, I want to go to New York and hang out with him. I am sorry to see him go, it may have had something to do with the human hair he used as fur trim on last night's designs (it really was not as bad as you would think).
Next week is this season's finale.

Ok, I can't resist. Chris March totally reminds me of Bruce Balding. I mean that in the best way possible. Their looks, their laugh, a little bit of cattiness thrown in, maybe that is why I like Chris/Bruce so much!

Oh tillie..

Meet Tilda Swinton. She won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar at last Sunday night's ceremony. I think she was in some movie with Geroge Clooney. I am pretty sure she was in the Chronicles of Narnia as well. I liked TCON. Kind of scary, but good. I had read the books when I was little. Anyway my point is this. It is the OSCARS, could she not put on some makeup? A least a little mascara? I bet if she would have called Maybelline they would have sent her over a free tube.
My verdict on Tilda (do you think her real name is Matilda?)-------HOT MESS

I know I have not been posting that much for the past few days-or at least anything of any substance. I am a little blocked and since my camera is still not working with my computer I have plenty of pictures to post, I can't do that.

Jack is going to school today. He usually just goes on Fridays, but has missed the past two due to a holiday and a snow day so, he is going this afternoon to make up some of his missed days. He is really excited about going.

Tomorrow Jack goes for pre-school screening. I am not sure why I take him, I will just be told that he won't get into Pre-K and then I will leave feeling angry and somehow cheated.

Tomorrow night begins the whirlwind Ray Diel as Jasper County Clerk farewell tour with a dinner and then a reception after at the Mason Hall. They are also having something in the County Clerk's office on Friday afternoon.
Hopefully someday I will be able to post pictures of all of these events.

Friday is my Grandma Lois's birthday. She was born on Feb. 29th so, she is 20 years old! There is a party for her on Friday night.
Jack is excited about attending all of these receptions/parties. He expects there to be games and party blowers. I am afraid he will be a little bit disappointed.

Colleen is leaving (or has already left) to go to Florida to get married to Chalen Swick (no relation) on a cruise. Bon Voyage Colleen!!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Bubba (Rebekah) & Jeremy!

do you think it just grew in that way?

Is there an AA for Disney??

Here we go again.........last September's trip was so much fun, I am hooked (perhaps addicted may be the better word)! As soon as we got back from last year's Walt Disney World trip I began thinking about going again. Cliff and I have been talking about it and I think we have pretty much decided to go back this September. Jack has no desire to return (I am sure he will enjoy it once we get there). He does want to go back and ride the escalator and play in the arcade at the hotel. So, after hours of researching all of the different resorts available on the WDW property, I think I have settled on the CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT. Below are some pictures of the resort. Hopefully I will book this week.

Sarah Sez readers-get ready to hear about my Disney planning. With over 6 months to go, you may get a little sick of it!

Famous (in my own mind)

In case you did not see it, my picture was in last Thursday's Newton Press Mentor. I was accepting a check on behalf on the NCHS Athletic Boosters from the Peoples State Bank President-Greg Ikemire. The reason I share this with you is, for me, the picture of me is not half bad. I hate getting my picture taken. I really would rather give blood (or boobs-see Mandy Hood's new blog www.thehoods1.blogspot.com).

Normally when I take a picture I end up looking like Eliza Jane Wilder. I try to open my eyes so wide to appear less Asian that my face takes on some sort of harsh pained look.

In the Press picture I look a little less like Eliza Jane and a little more like Miss Beadle.
Lemon Verbena anyone??

sadness.......

Thanks for all of the helpful hints and ideas about how to fix my camera/computer.
It still won't work! It looks like you will never get to see my pictures from the euchere tournament-they really were not that exciting anyway.
I guess Rebekah is going to have to try and save me once again.

American Idol-the girls

Last night the top 12 girls performed. Overall, I would say it was a huge snooze fest. I did not vote, but if I would have, I would have voted for Joanne Borgella. If for no other reason than she is the only "big girl". Us big girls gotta stick together.

Chocolate eggs

Maybe it is just me, but for some reason chocolate tastes so much better in egg form.

I have pictures to post. Some of the Euchere tournament, some of Jack. But since the traumatic computer outage of '08 I have not been able to download them from my camera. I am not sure what the problem is, and if you have any suggestions-send 'em my way.

On another note-Jack has learned how to use the computer by himself. He mainly uses it to watch Wiggles videos on You Tube and play games on Wiggles.com I also caught him checking the returns from the Wisconsin primary last night on CNN.com (I made that up).

You liked yesterday's so much-here's one for today

American Idol

American Idol started for real tonight with the top 12 guys performing. Here is my review.
THE GOOD...........
Robbie Carrico. I thought he was good. I may really just like him because he reminds me of C.T., the bad guy with the heart of gold, from the REAL WORLD.

Michael Jones. The Australian. If this guy does not make it to the top 12 something is wrong.

The bad..............

Danny Noriega

Coloton Berry

I have the same thing to say about Danny and Colton.
Gay 18 year olds should not sing ELVIS. He is the King-not the Queen.

And the ugly........

CHIKEZIE
I know it is not your fault, but why oh why are you named that?

Casual Shopping??????

Croclings

Jack got these new Crocs for Christmas.
They are called Croclings. He really likes them
and wants to wear them anytime I will let him.

Happy Birthday Jill!

Happy Birthday to my cousin and great friend.

Katherine Jill Bierman

(did you know her real first name was Katherine?)

Congrats Michelle!!

A big Congrats to my sister Michelle!

She got a new job with a doctors office in Charleston as a

Nurse Practioner.

The above picture is of her signing her contract, so as soon as she passes her boards it will be official.

Along with her new job, Michelle will also now have the ability to write prescriptions. My own personal Elvis doctor!

Viagra and Oxycotin here I come!

Violin

Jack wants a violin. Saturday he came out out of his room and said "Mommy, I need a violin." I need Jack to have a violin like I need a hole in the head. I told him that a violin was not that easy to find, especially in Newton. Jack told me that Alco had violins. When Cliff came home Jack asked Cliff for a violin so, off they went to Alco. Jack came home with a gun that shoots Nerf type darts. It makes noise, not as much noise as a violin would make, but enough. Hopefully that gun will break soon.

A letter to Sarah Sez readers from my Dad

A letter to readers of Sarah Sez.

As all of you faithful readers of my daughter Sarah’s blog know, I am resigning from the Jasper County Clerk’s office after over 21 years in office. Reflecting over those years I have came to some conclusions that I hope Sarah will allow me to share with you.

I was 34 years old when I took office as County Clerk. For 5 years prior to that, I was a member of the Jasper County Board. For 4 years prior to that I was Supervisor of Grove Township. So I was 25 or 26 years old when I started in public office. Where am I going with this, you may wonder. My point to all of you is this. I have been involved and you need to be. Start being involved. In your Government, Township, City, County, State, Federal. In your School District. Run for office. Volunteer for office. Become familiar with your candidates positions and help the candidates that you believe in. You may not realize this but it is now your turn. You cannot set back and let "someone else" do this. It is your job. This is now your world. My generation is passing. Yours is taking over. History will judge how me and my peers did (I think we sucked) and history will also judge how you do.

I have watched with such great interest the campaign of Barack Obama. It has reminded me so much of the campaign of Robert F. Kennedy back when I was a young man. He had also raised the hopes and expectations of my generation and when he was shot down it seemed that the hopes of my generation somehow died with him. We did not become involved. We let that famous "someone else" run our Country. Look where that has gotten us. Now comes Obama. The message that Obama brings of hope and change resonates with young, old, black, white, male and female, democrat and republican. Why is that??? Not because he is a Democrat. Not because he is black. Not because he is such a "shrewd" politician. I think it is because we as a nation are SICK AND TIRED OF THE STATUS QUO OF BUSINESS AS USUAL BEING CONDUCTED BY THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS AND WE WANT THIS CHANGED!!! He now embodies that change. My generation made this mess but yours must fix it. You are the agents that can make that change but you MUST get involved, you MUST take ownership of this country and you MUST tell us old guys that now is your time and you MUST do it. It is now your turn. Good luck.

Diel Grandkid's V-day pictures

My Mom loves Valentine's Day. It is her very fav holiday. This year to surprise her we took all seven of her grandkids to Photographics to have Amber take some pictures. She did a fantastic job as always. We got a large collage made for Mom for her V-day gift. I think she really liked it.

The pictures have been password protected so Mom could not see them- since she is now aware they exist, you can check them out.

Jack's new car seat

A few months ago I posted a super sad video that drove home the point of how important a car seat with a 5 point harness is for kids over 40 pounds.
Since Jack is knocking on the 40 pound door,
it was way past time to get him into a new car seat.
I spent hours and hours looking and researching different seats
and finally settled on the one pictured above.
The Kinkade family are the proud new owners of.........
the GRACO NAUTILUS

I am pretty impressed with this seat. It offers a 5 point harness for kids up to 65 pounds and after that, it can be used with a seat belt and the back removes to become a backless booster. Best of all, it has a cup holder! Jack really likes that a lot. He thinks it is a holder for his little bouncy balls.

I posted what I like to call the "sad car seat video" one more time. Honestly if I had not seen it I probably would not have known how important it was to keep Jack in a 5 point harnessed seat.

I have shared this video before, if you have not yet seen it----take a few minutes and please watch.

Check out this V-day cutie

My adorable nephew
Dexter James Fulton

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Happy V-day!
I told Jack I had something for him for Valentine's day. His reply-is it a gun?
No, it was not a gun. Just some Dora and Sponge Bob chocolates
and his very favorite, a large plain Hershey bar.
Once again, it is a chocolate for breakfast morning.

Cliff left me my Valentine's Day gift on the kitchen table this morning since he leaves for work long before we are up in the morning and he has class tonight.
He got me three packages of Venus razor blades! Woo hoo!
I love the Venus Razor, but mine was out of blades.
I refuse to buy them for myself since they are a little pricey.
It really was a great gift and will last a lot longer than flowers.

Tried to make me go to rehab

My internet has been down since Saturday! What's a girl to do? I realized that the internet is like Crack and this crack whore needed her fix! I think I have been through all of the stages of grief since Saturday. Tears and more tears (mainly out of frustration) bargaining, and finally I came to the realization that somehow, someway I was just going to have to make it through this cold turkey. Like he has done with many of the greats, this was just God's way of testing me.

During this trying time I spent well over 3 hours on the phone with Verizon tech support-very nice people, but since all of them sounded like APU from the Simpsons, I can only assume that they were from India. At times, they were very hard to understand, and even though I tried to explain, I doubt that they really cared that I needed to post on my blog!

At one point of the Verizon/Quicky Mart employees transfered me to the HP tech support line. The man from HP could not help me, but he did refer me to a website that could........???

So, my sister Rebekah reminded me that Steve Tarr had a (as Jack calls it)a computer "fix-it" shop. Cleverly named CompuTarr Solutions. I took it into Steve yesterday. And, what do you know-he fixed it! Quickly and cheaply!!

So, take that you Indians! (and by Indians, I do not mean Native Americans, I mean people from India, the Native Americans have been through enough with us taking all of their land and all-but I hear you have very nice casinos).

Lesson learned from this mess-Shop local first!
I'm BACK!!!!!!!!!

More to come soon........

GAME ON

Woo hoo! Tonight's the night! The official Farley Euchere Tournament.

I have been attending this annual classic for as long as I can remember. Not to toot my own horn, but I am not that bad of a Euchere player. I have never been lucky enough to win the Farley Euchere tourney, or even make it to the final game. I can feel it in my bones. Tonight is the night.

It usually lasts into the wee hours of the morning and Jack is spending the night with Mam and Bamp so, if I can get myself around tomorrow, I will let you know the outcome. Maybe even some pics!

Happy Birthday Olivia!

Happy Birthday wishes to one of my most favorite people in the entire world!
Olivia Flowers
or, as Jack calls her
Princess Bolivia!

Not Suzanne!

Delta Burke of Designing Women fame checked herself into a psych ward last week for a myriad of reasons: depression, obsessive-compulsive tendencies & "hoarding".

Huh? Is "hoarding" a clinical problem?

Rehab is SOO 2007!

Psych wards are hot in '08!

Well, I hope she gets better soon so she can have a yard sale to get rid of her extra crap around the house. Where does she live, anyway?

Have a great trip!

Rick, Amber, RJ, and Heidi Lindemann
leave early tomorrow morning for Walt Disney World!
I am so excited for them.
I know with all of the many hours
Amber has put into planning their trip
it will be magical!
Pixie Dust from me to the Lindemann Family!

And now some naked drumming
