Last night was the Christmas program at our church. I had the honor, with a few other lovely ladies, of helping to organize and direct the program.....more about that later.
Yesterday afternoon I decided I should make some cookies to take to church for the after program cookies and punch (I had already purchased punch and Sprite, I was just being an overachiever). As I was reaching into the frig for the remains of the cookie dough that I had purchased from Elijah Knepper for some sort of a fundraiser (I had ate most of it), an entire jar of pickles fell out. The glass shattered and pickle juice and pickles went everywhere. It was a smelly mess. I bent down to start cleaning it up and Jack came in the kitchen and looked at the mess and then looked at me and said "OH CRAP". I cleaned up the mess and went ahead and made/burnt/threw away the cookies.
I had to leave early to go to the program to get things ready. I laid out Jack's outfit, left the video camera battery on the charger and left Cliff with instructions to bring it along with the digital camera. Well, at least Jack made it to the program in his outfit. No video camera, no digital camera.
I knew that Rebekah and others were there taking pictures of the program, but I have still been more than a little upset that I did not get to take any for myself. I wanted to be able to share them on the blog, and since Jack was sick and missed the program last year, I wanted to have pics and video of him in his first program.
I do have the pictures in my mind though and I hope they won't fade.
I will share a few with you:
Jack, looking so cute in his sweater with a penguin on it and brown pants (red socks and brown shoes in case you are wondering).
All of the kids getting ready to march into the church and being (surprisingly) very well behaved. They all looked so cute and so little. Gabe helped Jack walk in and Dawson and Cooper walked in hand and hand.
Mitch Resiner welcoming everyone. He surprised me by stepping up to the plate and taking the job. He did so well. His Grandma Dina would have been so proud of him.
The little girls singing so loud on 'Joy to the World'. They were just so (for lack of a better word) JOYFUL!
Carmen Worcester waving to her Mom during most of the program. She seemed so happy to be there and I know she made her Mommy so proud.
Dawson singing his solo. It was amazing.
Olivia Flowers in the cutest outfit ever saying the verse that she had memorized like a pro.
Cooper dancing during one of the songs. Jack tried to join in. Dawson laughing so hard at his brother.
McKenzie Resiner looking like a model and speaking with such eloquence and grace as she read a poem written by Ada Brooks.
Aaron Turner reading his verse. There were not so many words for him to say, but we were so proud of him for saying them.
The finale of the program-the kids held their battey lit candles as Mary/Vanessa holding Baby Jesus/Baby Dexter and Joseph/Dominic Ginder made their way down the aisle. Dexter was beautiful as Baby Jesus and it was the icing on the cake.
So, I don't have any pictures of the program. I wish I did, but I think I will be just fine.
My dear little one..

Sarah,
The program was great. All the kids were so cute and did their parts very well.
Jack and Cooper were fun to watch.
I was especially proud of Baby Jesus and Gabe. tears, tears!
They got the message across, "The Reason for the Season."
Sorry about the pickles mess. I once had a beautiful spriral ham baked in a Corning Ware baking dish on top of the stove, cooling. Grant's big
dog jumped up, knocked it off, glass shattered all over the ham;
I think we ate tuna fish!
Crap Happens!
Nanny, did the dog get the ham?? Smart dog!
