Spongeworthy

I have recently discovered the world of free samples. There are tons of websites dedicated to sending you a little sample of different products. This week I have received two samples of Kotex and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. For some reason I have never used a magic eraser before. Boy, have I been missing out! I knew the one I got in the mail was not going to last so I got out the 50 cent off coupon that came with it and headed to the DG to buy more!! I have been a cleaning fool!!!
I know I have shared a couple of free sample offers in the past. What do you think? Do you want more free samples??? Let me know and I will be happy to share the free sample love with Sarah Sez readers.

WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!!!!!!!
After years of "making do" with the way to small place that we live in now, we have finally found a place here in Newton that we hope will make the perfect home for our growing family. Everything is not finalized yet, but if all goes as planned we should be moved in by the middle of October!! Just in time to get Baby Chuck Chuck's crib up and welcome him home to our new abode.
Please keep your fingers crossed for us that all goes well.

MRS. FULTON goes to Washington

Saturday morning I got a call from my sister Michelle who said "guess where I'm at?" Needless to say, it was good. Really good. I asked her to take lots of pics for me to share on my blog and she offered to author a guest post. So without further aideu, I give you Mrs. Fulton goes to Washington.
~~~~~~~~
OK, so maybe I didn’t go to Washington, but this was much better as I don’t like vacations that include anything historical, educational. or botanical. Diel girl policy, I live by The Code.
It all started when I got home Friday night from the football game. We had won, but frankly it still wasn't that great. While slaving away in the kitchen in preparation to feed the coaches (ok, you all probably know me better than that, but I did make the lasagna myself. Thanks mom and Sarah for the salad and dessert), I noticed a message on the machine.
It was my dear friend from work, Karen Reeves. Call her ASAP, it was very important. I'll admit, I was thinking maybe the hospital needed help or something along those lines. Luckily, she called me back at 10:30. She had scored tickets to see Barack Obama in Terre Haute Saturday morning and was offering to take me! She had stood in line for 2 hours Friday am to get tickets, only for them to run out before she got to the front. They put her name on a list and told her they would call her if they had any extra tickets, they were only letting in 1,000 people. They called her at 7:30 Friday night and she went back to Terre Haute again to pick them up.
I can’t tell the story without including how Karen found out about the tickets. Her uncle died (RIP, obviously). She was on a Terre Haute paper website looking for his obituary when something popped up about Obama's visit. She of course followed that and found out how to get tickets. I'm only including this because the ironic part is her uncle was a huge republican. I'm talking he attended Republican National Conventions. This tidbit can only leave me to believe that God is a Democrat. Karen will have to update us on how her family took the fact that she was almost late to the funeral because she went to see Obama!
Karen said she couldn’t think of anyone else who would appreciate this as much as me (obviously I am the only member of my family she is friends with as Sarah will tell you she would appreciate it much more than I would, but too bad for her!). Normally I wouldn't make a decision that would leave Jason home alone with the kids all day, especially with the game they just played, but this was an emergency! I was to meet Karen in Marshall @ 8:00. He was speaking @ 11:25 our time, but the seats were first come, first serve.
We got there bright and early and there was already a line.
We stood outside for quite a while. We got T-shirts that are super cute. We didn’t think to ask if any of the proceeds went to Obama, as I rather doubt the pregnant white girl with the really gross dread locks was an official part of the campaign???
When we finally got to go in, we had to go through a metal detector. No purses or bags allowed, cameras and phones ok, you could only bring in what you could hold in your hands. We apparently did not look like potential assassins and were allowed through.
Karen making it through security.
As we went in, a cool (obviously gay) Obama worker pulled me out of the line and offered me bleacher seats, assuring me they were the best seats. I don’t know, but I'm going to pretend it’s like Oprah and they was the perfect crowd mix because later they sent another cute girl up to sit by me. Our seats were great. 5 rows back form Obama. Awesome view.
We had another 1 1/2 hour wait but it went super quick. The "Wabash Valley Idol" sang the National Anthem (No, Simon would not have approved). Some lady running for IN governor spoke. (Didn’t like her that much. I always liked the commercials of the governor they have now).
Lots of secret service around the whole time. They constantly scanned the crowd. They didn't talk back if you talked to them (I tried).
The closer it got to time, the more secret service was around
Finally, It was time for the main event. The crowd went crazy as Senator Obama came in with Evan Bayh.
Bayh spoke first, the Obama. He was awesome. Funny and serious at the same time. I don’t feel like words can do it justice, but Karen and I knew we were watching history being made. Please just believe me that he was just as good as you would think.
It was funny cause we (Karen and I) both came from different perspectives. Karen was in high school when Bobby Kennedy was running. She knew then how big it was. She cried in her room for days and days when he was assassinated. She says this is the first time she has felt anything close to that. For me, Bill Clinton was the first President I voted for. Loved him, even with his sometimes embarrassing ways. But for the past 8 years, I have only known what the republicans have given us. Seriously, we all know they have sucked it up big time. As the mother of 2 children, I know we can do better for them.
Gabe's entire lifetime has been under President Bush! That is so hard to believe! Now, I also have the perspective of being the mother of a biracial child. I love the thought of being able to show him President Obama! (Gratuitous kid pic). I'm not sure who is going to volunteer their children to help John McCain out with his "hundred more years in Iraq". I can guarantee you he can’t have either of mine.
Me "with" Senator Obama.
The Senator spoke for probably 25 minutes and then took questions from the audience. No, they were not "planted" as some of them were total idiots. It really was just great.
When it was done, I decide I was going to make my move.
I went down to the railing and weaseled my way up. He finally came our way.
There he was. In real life. Right in front of me. It was just too good to be true.
I got to shake his hand and then.... wait for it..... wait for it.......... HE HUGGED ME!!!! Yes, he smelled good.
He talked to Karen. We practically floated out of the 4 H hog barn (I know, glamorous location). We came home and our Cinderella moment was over.
It was so awesome. I was already voting for him, but if I can’t imagine anyone who heard him wouldn’t. He's the real deal.
Thanks Sarah for letting me share with your loyal readers!
~~~
Thanks Michelle, as jealous as I am that you got to hug and smell Sen. Obama, I sure am happy that it was you that got to go and you documented your experience for us!!!

Bamp and Dex

Here is Jack before school this morning.
Today was his first official day of our self imposed mandatory
Orange and Blue/Newton Eagles apparel on Friday!

School, day 2

Jack chose his own outfit on the second day.
Any shirt with a guitar on it is a fav for him.
Week one of the first week of school ends today.
Except for his fall on the playground, things have went amazingly well.
Jack really likes it. He has no problem with me dropping him off every morning.
I miss him, but have been so busy running errands etc. during the time he is at school that
it has not been nearly as painful as I thought it would be.
Hopefully the rest of the school year goes as smoothly as the first week has!

Some updates....

Jack is enjoying school. Yesterday (day 2) around 9:30ish I got a call from the school saying he had fallen off of the monkey bars and said he hurt his back. He was crying and would not stop and they thought I should come and get him. I did, and he cried so hard and so much that as soon as we got home he threw up. I was scared that that would make him not want to go back, but he just said he would now just stick with the "fireman pole". I dropped him off today and the teacher had to tell him to tell me bye!

~~~
Had a DR. appt yesterday. All looks good. Have a sonogram in a couple of weeks so hopefully we will be able to confirm that it is a Chuck Chuck and not a Mary Mary.
Have to go back every two weeks now and the DR told me to gain 2lbs by my next appt. I will work hard on doing that.
Is this just a Newton thing?
You gotta love a vending machine that dispenses bait!
Notice the beautiful views of the cemetery in the background!
We have worms.
