Eagles home opener

Tonight's the first home game!! Woo hoo, for me tonight it will feel like the season has really started! Porkburgers here I come.

Along with the usual stuff, the Athletic Boosters will also be selling tickets before tonight and next week's game for your chance to "Run with the Eagles" (run through the paper with the team at the Homecoming game).

School, day 2

Jack chose his own outfit on the second day.

Any shirt with a guitar on it is a fav for him.
Week one of the first week of school ends today.
Except for his fall on the playground, things have went amazingly well.
Jack really likes it. He has no problem with me dropping him off every morning.
I miss him, but have been so busy running errands etc. during the time he is at school that
it has not been nearly as painful as I thought it would be.
Hopefully the rest of the school year goes as smoothly as the first week has!

Some updates....

Jack is enjoying school. Yesterday (day 2) around 9:30ish I got a call from the school saying he had fallen off of the monkey bars and said he hurt his back. He was crying and would not stop and they thought I should come and get him. I did, and he cried so hard and so much that as soon as we got home he threw up. I was scared that that would make him not want to go back, but he just said he would now just stick with the "fireman pole". I dropped him off today and the teacher had to tell him to tell me bye!

Had a DR. appt yesterday. All looks good. Have a sonogram in a couple of weeks so hopefully we will be able to confirm that it is a Chuck Chuck and not a Mary Mary.
Have to go back every two weeks now and the DR told me to gain 2lbs by my next appt. I will work hard on doing that.

Is this just a Newton thing?

I have watched this story unfold with great interest. I assume McCain was not stupid enough to think that the HRC supporters would immediately swing to his side just because he had chosen a woman as his running mate. As a woman, to see another woman given the honor of being chosen for this position makes me happy. If she was only chosen because she was a woman, well then that makes me mad.

As a mother, Sarah Palin does a lot that offends me. Her son Trigg (which is a cool name) was born in April of this year. Trigg has Downs Syndrome. Gov. Palin decided to take only THREE days off after giving birth one month early. She was back to work THREE days after he was born. Read the story here. I suppose some may think that that is amazing, only three days. Any mother I know would tell you that number one, even if they are feeling wonderful three days after giving birth there is no way in hell you could get them to leave their baby and go back to work that soon after giving birth. That bonding time with your child is SO important.

And then there is poor Bristol (another cool name). Palin's 17 year old unwed pregnant daughter. (not even going to go into Palin's support of teaching abstinence education vs sex ed.) Surely she knew that her daughter was pregnant when she accepted the position as McCain's running mate. Did she not realize what kind of media scrutiny her daughter would be placed under? At what has to be an already hard time in her daughter's life, now her pregnancy at the age of 17 is being discussed on every news program and all over the Internet. What kind of a mother purposely puts her daughter in that kind of harms way???

Is there a double standard? Sure there is. Biden is a hero for keeping his position as a Senator after his wife died in an accident and he became a single father. Is it fair? Not at all.

Can women have it all? Time will tell. At the end of the day, is having it all more important than the safety and well being of your children?

Ok, we did not walk to school, Jack thought it was a great idea,

I thought it was a little warm.

That's when the tears started for me.

After that I left. He did not even notice me leaving the classroom.

It probably was for the best, I was crying pretty hard.

So, we survived day one. Jack thinks that school is all right and wants to go back again tomorrow. He told me they had cupcakes today (explains the blue icing on his shirt) and sang a song about going on a bear hunt. He said they did not learn anything, but he did go down the fire pole on the playground.

26 weeks!

A little late with this post, but I am now 26 weeks pregnant!!

Finally, feeling really good. My energy level is up and I feel good most of the time.

Tomorrow is my monthly check-up with Dr. Houseworth.

AND he is off...

Just in case you were wondering, Jack made it to school just fine. No tears from him---me on the other hand well, I should have brought some kleenex, the brown school paper towels are a little scratchy.

Jack did not even seem to notice when I left the classroom. He was already way to busy checking things out.

I had secretly hoped that maybe he would scream and hold onto my leg. That would have been really bad, but it would have made me feel a little bit better.

Sending my baby off to school

Tomorrow morning is the big day. Jack will be going to his first day of school. I am NOT looking forward to the morning. I should be in bed right now, but sleep will just make time go by faster. I have selfishly considered not sending Jack to school. Honestly, I am going to miss him for those few hours each morning terribly. I could count the hours Jack and I have been apart since he was born and I think this will be much harder for me than him. It was so hard for me to make him go to bed tonight for I know tomorrow night and each night after he will seem less and less like my baby, but more and more like the big boy that I know school will help him to become.

How can this little baby be ready to go to school?

Tomorrow is going to be a rough one for me.

Pre School Open House

Jack had his Pre School Open House this past Wednesday night. He got to meet his teacher's Mrs. Bergbower (who he immediately shook hands with) and the aide, Mrs. Pilman. He and Mrs. Pilman had a nice chat about her son the Newton Eagle Football player, Jake.

Jack is in the morning class, Lily in the afternoon.

Jack did very well at the open house, the parents went to the cafeteria for some info from the teacher and the principal. Jack had no problem hanging out in the classroom with Mrs. Pilman and some other kids. I honestly think he is going to be just fine.

Me on the other hand.......??????
